Policy of the System Hosting Service:

The Deanship of Information Technology provides the system hosting service for all university bodies and academic staff, according to the conditions and requirements of the UQU website.

All university entities which desire to have the system hosting service.

Building and developing integrated e-systems, internally and externally.

Automating all services and transactions.

Controlling all conditions and requirements for using the hosting service.

Detailed Objective

 

Policy:

  1. Adhering to the general identity of the university website: (The Deanship of Information Technology will provide entities with the instructions and files needed.)
  2. In case the user should need sign-in information, they should abide by the unified entry registration of the university (SSO).
  3. Should the entity be in need of any data about the university, they are to coordinate with the Deanship of Information Technology, and also obtain the approval of the competent authority.
  4. The hosting service should be limited to the framework of education and research.
  5. The hosting service should be used to provide electronic services in a way that does not contradict with the content and services of the university portal.

  6. The hosting service prohibits distributing, storing, using, processing, or linking the following:
  • Illegal material: this involves right-reserved programs, scripts, audio recordings and videos, or any material that infringes the laws of any given organization or government, and violates intellectual property rights. This is in addition to any other material that contravenes the laws of Um Al-Qura University and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Material containing sexual content: such as pictures, movies, audio recordings, and texts.
  • Pirated materials: these include all types of pirated software and scripts, as well as hacking and system penetration programs, and viruses.
  • Email spam: sending spam or a large number of messages is strictly prohibited.
  1. Illegally accessing anyone else’s account at the server is prohibited. If this happens, the Hosting will be canceled altogether, and the beneficiary has no right to compensation.
  2. The beneficiary is fully in charge of the website, in terms of updating content, protecting the website, and updating the software used.
  3. The beneficiary is fully liable before the concerned bodies for any failure, losses or any banned material that was added on the website subscribed to the university.
  4. The beneficiary is completely liable for the full content of the website, and the Deanship of Information Technology does not share any liabilities.

Operational Policy and Procedures:

  1. Should the beneficiary commit any of the above-mentioned prohibited acts, they will be served a notice. And in case they do not respond, the website will be suspended until all previously-mentioned infringements are cleared. Should such acts be repeated, the web hosting will be canceled altogether, and the beneficiary is not allowed to file for compensation.
  2. Any hosting involved in activities that cause server failure or affect its performance will be suspended, as this harms the rest of the other websites of the beneficiaries in the servers of the Deanship of Information Technology.
  3. The Deanship of Information Technology is allowed to delete any files or information deemed as undesirable or conflicting with this agreement, without returning anything to the beneficiary.
  4. The Deanship of Information Technology shall take a daily or weekly spare copy for all the servers it hosts. However, the spare copy of data is the sole possession of the beneficiary. As such, the deanship is not liable for the loss of any data or files, under any circumstances.
  5. The Deanship of Information Technology has the right to amend the policy of use every now and then. These amendments are to take effect immediately. The beneficiary will be notified about the amendments through the beneficiary’s official email which falls within the domain of the university.
