Policies and Procedures of the Deanship of Information Technology

Wired and Wireless Network Access Policy:

This policy defines how to manage all wired and wireless infrastructure devices in offices affiliated to the university that are connected to its network and have access to information that is classified as highly confidential or prohibited.

Overview

This policy applies to all employees, academic staff, students and guests of Umm Al-Qura University.

Scope

Ensuring optimum and secure usage of the university network by employees, academic staff, and students.

Objective

Operational Policies and Procedures:

  1. The usage of authentication protocols and infrastructure must be approved be the university.
  2. All device addresses (MAC) are maintained, recorded and traced, if required.
  3. All wireless access points will be installed by the Deanship of Information Technology at university locations, and the deanship will provide the support and maintenance.
  4. The Deanship of Information Technology is solely responsible for the installation of wired and wireless network devices.
  5. Approved encryption protocols will be used.
  6. Secure access is enabled for confidential exchange with high reliability technology.
