Overview:
The Department of Technical Affairs seeks to participate in the development of UQU infrastructure, networks and information systems. It also takes part in the preparation of technical studies of UQU data centers. In addition, the Department secures the requirements for the work of its sections, and seeks constant follow-up of work and evaluation of its employees’ performance. It comprises three sections that operate integrally to implement the missions assigned to the Department in coordination with the rest of the Vice-Deanship’s departments. This is in order to achieve the objectives of the Vice-Deanship’s operational plan.
The sections of the Department are as follows:
Information Security Section:
The section is responsible for the following tasks:
- Participating in the protection and monitoring of operating systems, servers, networks, databases, applications, services, e-portals and personal computers, and address their problems through firewall.
- Participating in raising the level of users’ awareness, whether inside or outside the Deanship, of the best behaviors to achieve optimal information security.
- Participating in the proposal of policies for giving remote access powers to UQU network and monitoring users of remote access to the network and checking their validity periodically.
- Preparing periodic reports regarding the section with respect to assets and problems and submitting them to the Dean and Vice-Dean.
Operating Systems Sections:
The section is responsible for the following tasks:
- Participation and coordination to solve the problems of user accounts on the E-Services Portal of UQU website.
- Participation and coordination to solve e-mail problems.
- Participation and coordination to provide Email/Internet Services.
- Participation and coordination to provide services related to Microsoft Active Directory systems.
Technical Support Section:
The section is responsible for the following tasks:
- Maintaining, reformatting or updating PCs and all accessories thereof.
- Participating in the proposal of technical specifications for modern equipment and accessories (e.g. printers and other) needed by UQU.
- Helping the client install new software or accessories.
- Installing computer equipment and accessories for the client.
- Preparing periodic reports regarding the section with respect to assets and problems and submitting them to the Dean and Vice-Dean.
