The Intellectual Awareness Unit Organizes an Open Intellectual Meeting for Students of the University College in Al-Leith

The Intellectual Awareness Unit at Umm Al-Qura University organized an open intellectual meeting at the theater of the University College in Al-Leith (male section), which was transmitted via closed-circuit TV to the female section. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Dean of Al-Leith University College, Dr. Muhammad Al-Maliki, in the presence of the college vice deans and the heads of the departments. The event was also attended by His Excellency the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Iskandar Hausawi, and a number of the students of the colleges of the university branch in Al-Leith.

The meeting was presented by Dr. Yusuf Al-Bahoth, a member of the UQU Intellectual Awareness Unit and a member of the teaching staff at the College of Da`wah and Fundamentals of Religion, as well as His Excellency Dr. Ayish Al-Bishri, a member of the UQU Intellectual Awareness Unit and the Vice Dean of the Higher Institute for Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil. The session was moderated by Mr. Ahmad Bamahram, a lecturer at the Department of Arabic Language.

The two guests of the meeting talked about the UQU Intellectual Awareness Unit, its objectives, and its role in addressing and maintaining intellectual security in the university community, as well as solving students' intellectual problems and other issues. It also plays a role in highlighting the need for awareness indicators, the issues that the student needs to protect his ideas, and how to communicate with the unit through the internet to benefit from its services.

Afterwards, the two guests of the meeting discussed a number of intellectual concepts, including analysis of the concept of intellectual security, the importance of caring for the five necessities of the Shari`ah, and facing the sources of intellectual danger facing university students and youth in general. The session also addressed the importance of the role of teaching members to instill noble values in the students, and correct misconceptions and intellectual disorders.

The meeting praised the great role and efforts made by the state for the welfare of young people, their paying attention to their issues, and helping them intellectually to move towards Islamic moderation.

Next, His Excellency the Dean of Al-Leith University College, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Maliki, delivered a speech in which he thanked the people in charge of the unit, pointing out how much this meeting and the educational guidance it contained were useful for the students. He stressed the importance of the role of the youth in achieving the vision of the nation 2030, pointing out that the youth should be prepared and be intellectual equipped in order to be able to achieve this vision. We live in a historical phase that requires intellectual security to deal with the nature of the stage in which we are living, in the light of the openness of the media.

The meeting concluded with a number of discussions by students and academic staff members from the female section.
