Physics Department (female section) at Al-Leith University College provided awareness tips and guidance, under the title, “Obesity Prevention", on Monday, 11 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H.
The students of the Physics Department initiated this activity with the aim of defining the meaning of obesity (an annoying health problem that may lead to unpleasant consequences). They also discussed how to prevent obesity, whether the person has a healthy weight or is at risk of obesity, by following some preventive steps that can help protect a person from weight gain and health problems, such as eating healthy meals, avoiding foods high in saturated fats, and maintaining a daily physical exercise routine, in addition to many other obesity awareness tips.
The activity was launched by identifying the ideal weight and the number of the glasses of water that should be consumed on a daily basis. Some unhealthy foods which should be completely avoided were also exhibited during the activity, along with nutrition handouts.
The obesity prevention activity was carried out under the supervision of the deputy head of the department, Dr. Nihad Al-Sha`ir, and the course lecturer, Rihab Al-Mahdawi.
