On Monday, 16 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., Al-Leith University College organized the contest of the College Role Model. This idea is in line with the comprehensive vision of the Mecca region that is adopted by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Prince of Mecca Region. The vision is represented in the strategy of 'Human Development and Region Advancement'. Moreover, the "Mecca Cultural Forum", with its slogan, "How to be role models?", further promotes this idea and achieves its objectives, and comes within the activities of the forum.
Following the success of the first season, the University Role Model Contest II was launched to choose a male and female student who demonstrate the characteristics and accomplishments that make them role models for other university students. The contest was attended by His Excellency the Dean of Al-Leith University College, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Maliki, His Excellency the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Hadi Al-Samadani, His Excellency the Vice Dean of the College for Educational Affairs, Dr. Faisal Al-Harbi, the academic staff, and a large group of students.
The ceremony prepared for this occasion started with a welcoming speech, then recitations of verses of the Noble Qur'an, followed by an introductory film about the contest and the requirements for participation. After that, the students nominated by their departments presented their achievements and abilities in line with the conditions of participation. The student Hamzah Al-Salmi from the Mathematics Department started, followed by the student Ziyad Mutrafi from the Department of English Language, next Basim Al-Jimi`i, also from the Department of English Language, and finally the student Abdullah Al-Humairi from the Physics Department.
After this, Dr. Jamal Abu Al-Ni`aj, a member of the jury, delivered the speech of the committee, in which he urged students to take the initiative and gain experience to benefit themselves and their homeland.
The students' participation was evaluated by a committee formed by the Dean of the College. The committee, in accordance with the regulations and conditions of the evaluation, named the student Abdullah Al-Humairi from the Physics Department as the College Role Model for Al-Leith University College, and the student Basim Al-Jimi`i from the Department of English Language as the runner-up of the College Role Model.
It is worth mentioning that the presenter of the ceremony was the student Ali bin Sa`id Al-Barakati, who won the title of the University Role Model (second place) at the level of the university and its various branches.
