The Scientific Club for Postgraduate Students at King Saud University hosted Mr. Badr bin Musaad Moaid Al-Otaibi, a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at Al-Leith University College, in a seminar entitled: "Difficulties Facing Postgraduate Students". The seminar was scheduled for Monday, 1 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1442 A.H., and was held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., via Zoom.
His Excellency reviewed a set of topics of importance for postgraduate students, based on his past experience as a master’s student. He emphasized the necessity of reviewing the plan of the program, choosing the appropriate specialization at the beginning of the postgraduate study, and developing detailed plans to make use of the time to finish the course stage. He also stressed the importance of attending meetings, courses and conferences for postgraduate students to open up multiple research horizons in preparation for choosing the title of the thesis or research project, with the need to take note of the criteria for selecting the supervisor in line with the research topic.
Moreover, Mr. Al-Otaibi talked about his experience and the difficulties and challenges he while preparing the research project for the master's degree, and how he managed to overcome them. He spoke about his pursuit of candidacy to the PhD program as well. The meeting ended with some recommendations to help postgraduate students during their scientific career.
