The Department of Education and Psychology launched the second stage of the voluntary initiative entitled "My Book is also Yours." It aims to preserve university books that students no longer need and lend them to other students. This initiative was organized by female students studying psychological health and the principles of Islamic economy. They cooperated with the department and the teachers of the courses by regarding this activity as a course activity. They placed shelves in building B on which to collect the used books, which are then transferred to the library for used books.
The initiative aims to:
Invest in previously used books and benefiting from them instead of them being kept by students without any use.
Spread awareness among female students concerning the circulation of used books among academic students.
Encourage students to place books in specified areas in the college (shelves dedicated for this purpose in the college).
Establish a dedicated borrowing library in which books are organized according to their fields of specialization. Then, books are transferred to the library by the end of each semester.
Provide students with special needs with scientific and reference books free of charge.
To encourage students to cooperate and help their fellow students to obtain scientific and reference books when needed.
Spread awareness about the importance of voluntary work and working for the benefit of others seeking Allah's reward.
The execution stage of the initiative began on 17 Rajab 1440 A.H. by setting up shelves in building B. Moreover, a laboratory in the building was designated as a library to store books after being gathered from the courtyard shelves. This activity was carried out under the leadership of Dr. Fawziyah Abdul-Rahman Bana`imah with the supervision of the Head of the Department, Dr. Eman Al-Harthi.
The initiative will be expanded to include the whole college, Allah willing.
