The Department of Family Education (female section) organized a sewing training course entitled "Women's Clothing" on Monday, 20 Safar 1440 A.H.
The trainer, Ibtisam Al-Hajri, selected a number of clothing pieces (women's pants and jackets) and explained the (free hand) method of cutting these pieces without the use of a pattern, i.e., just to take measurements and cut the fabric directly. This practical training course was conducted with the aim of teaching the trainees some domestic skills appropriate to their living environment, alongside developing the particular professional direction they would like to pursue, depending on their region. In addition, the course was designed to give the trainees a clear idea of the day-to-day living costs that would normally be their responsibility to manage and how to wisely divide their living budget. The course also aimed to boost their desire to perform domestic work and to acquire the necessary skills, and work on enhancing these skills. The trainees were also introduced to the different fabrics and raw materials available in their environment so that they could make use of them in their normal life.
The activity was held under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Amal Uwais, and the Supervisor of the Graduates Unit at the Department, Dr. Amal Nasr Jafar.
