The Department of Da`wah and Islamic Culture (female section) at Al-Leith University College launched a program entitled ‘Authority of the Sunnah’ on Wednesday, 8 Safar, 1440 A.H. The program was carried out by the female students of the Department of Da`wah and Islamic Culture.
The program aimed to show the importance and status of the Sunnah in legislation. Sunnah is the second source of legislation after the Glorious Qur'an and the practical application of what it contains. It is also the explanation of the meanings of the Qur'an, and the clarification of its words and structures. If the Qur'an gives the general principles and bases of legislation and laws, the Sunnah gives the details about these rules and explanation for these general principles and bases. Thus, religion cannot be perfect and Shari`ah cannot be completed except by regarding the Sunnah as the second source of legislation after the Qur'an.
Some booklets, posters and videos were displayed. The activity also included a competition. It was held under the supervision of the members of the Department of Da`wah and Islamic Culture.
