Al-Leith University College held the first computer-based final exam for the "building vocabulary" course at the Department of English Language on Thursday, 20 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., corresponding to 27 December, 2018 A.C. The exsm was held at the meeting hall in Al-Leith University College.
The computer-based exam targeted thirty-one students. It was supervised by Mr. Ahmad Hajju, an academic member and an approved trainer at Al-Leith University College from the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education. The exam began at 8 a.m., and ended at 11 a.m. The student was allowed to leave the examination room sixty minutes after the start of the exam.
It is worth mentioning that more than one exam model was given to the students, to avoid incidents of cheating. The academic staff member Mr. Hajju used a password to save the exam so that the students could not see it outside the college. The students preferred this fair method of taking and marking computer-based assessments. The exam was conducted successfully, and the students received their grades immediately after the completion of the assessment.
On his part, His Excellency the Dean of Al-Leith University College, Dr. Muhammad Al Maliki, pointed out, "This step which was undertaken by the Department of English Language comes in the framework of the practical plan of the College for the academic year 1439/1440 A.H. This plan, in addition to its several articles, aims at relying on online learning in a number of its courses, designing content and assessment procedures which are suitable for computer-based learning." He mentioned that the students who received computer-based exams also took a series of courses this semester in the field of e-learning.
