The Department of Social Service (Girls Section), Field Training2 Students, organized an awareness educational symposium entitled, “Student Guidance” on Sunday, 1st Rajab 1439H.
The event aimed to mentor students by explaining the scientific and educational objectives, solving students’ academic problems that emerged from time to time, and highlighting their talents and skills. The mentoring process also included following up and trying to treat deficiencies in the educational process, such as low grades of some students, and therefore maintaining students’ psychological health. In addition, this comprised helping students choose the type of study and profession that suited their talents, abilities and community needs, while tightening bonds and reinforcing complementary cooperation between the home and the school.
In the same context, the symposium included a PowerPoint presentation on its main themes. In other words, it explained the role and missions of a social worker in student guidance (i.e. studying cases, clarifying the significance of awareness problems and topics addressed by the social worker as a form of student guidance at school, providing students with consultation and psychological aid, and acting as a link between the school and the families of students). In addition, the scientific material presentation at the event was accompanied by an educational video and a corner of explanatory publications and brochures. It is worth mentioning that the event was supervised by Prof. Salma Al-Majnouny, Professor of the Course.
