University of Umm Al-Qura (UQU) represented by the Dean of Information Technology, Dr. Majid bin Mohamed Al-Gethami, the Vice Dean of IT for e-Transactions, Dr. Atef al-Hejeili, and the Head of Applications Unit, Eng. Ashraf Asfour, were among members of six Saudi universities which celebrated the launching of the comprehensive system of e-transactions in the education sector (University System), organized jointly by the Ministry of Education and the e-Government Program (YESSER) on Tuesday Shawal 21, 1437H corresponding to July 26, 2016.
The system aims at enhancing governance of the e-transactions march in such a manner which consolidates efforts integration, optimal use of resources, activating decision-making tools at the higher education sector and the national level, besides linking the services between institutions of the higher education and the ministry of education directly, building national database of higher education institutions, creating e-portal including several parts interrelating and interacting with each other, as well as linking the system with the Administrative Communication System in the ministry chamber and the cultural missions in different countries, building integrated and supervisory e-services between the ministry and the higher education institutions, and building integrated services between the ministry of education and different state institutions.
It is noteworthy that, the new system will lead the education sector to be at the forefront of the services sectors in Saudi Arabia. Participating in this system with the ministry of education and other parties, Yesser endeavors to support government agencies in the Kingdom to build and create joint national electronic systems to serve the community as general and to help in supporting decision making, as well as collecting a package of e-services of a number of government agencies to be provided for beneficiaries in a form of accessible and integrated services in such a manner which contributes to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030.
