The College of Medicine in Al-Qunfudah was established under a Royal Decree no. 7385 on Safar 26, 1423H by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who was ex-chairperson of the higher education council. It comprises nine main departments and five clinical departments that translate the keenness of the late king on serving science and education by building new scientific and theoretical colleges in many places. These colleges provide all medical branches to serve student. It is part of King Abdullah's keenness on expanding universities and colleges that serve homeland according to the best future plans. The plans reflect king's wise reading for the necessary development of the educational process. On the same track, King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince have been keen on using the educational chances at various specialties. The efforts include customizing the place and finding the necessary supplies.   

The educational progress achieved by the Kingdom reflected the wise vision adopted by the king and his crown prince for taking care of education and keep track with the scientific development at various levels to serve the homeland and all other places.

Al-Qunfudah Medicine College is a unique addition to the university which provides added value and it was a main source for human and professional resources.
