The Department of Pathology teaches pathology subject which is concerned with studying the structural and functional changes in tissues and living cells as a result of an infection. Consequently, the pathology provides a scientific explanation of the patient's symptoms and the signs which the doctor observes as a result of the disease. Therefore, the pathology is the point of liaison between the basic medical sciences and the clinical sciences. In addition, it is considered the scientific basis upon which all other medical sciences depend. The rapid evolution in the ways and means of diagnosis which exceeded the morphology of the tissues to dive into the microscopic components of the cells allowed the students a greater opportunity to find out how the various diseases occur, including cancer tumors. The Department also teaches forensic medicine which is concerned with the inspection and diagnosis the criminal cases to medically determine its causes.
