The Medical Parasitology is a basic medical science that studies the relationship between two organisms, one of them feeds on the other which is called (the host), and the other is called (the parasite), and the relationship between them is called (parasitism).

The study of parasitology is gaining its importance due to the suitability of the tropical environment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the multiplication of the causative and the carrier along with the influx of many different nationalities during the Hajj and Umrah.

The parasitology is interested in studying the medical parasites that infect humans, such as amoeba, malaria, leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis and many tapeworms, roundworms and nematodes, in terms of methods of infection, symptoms, diagnosis, way of prevention and treatment.

Parasitology is also interested in the development of diagnoses, treatment and vaccines manufacturing against these parasitic causes.
