Introduction:
The National Committee for Medical and Biological Ethics was established by virtue of Royal Decree no. 7\B\9512 on 18 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1422 A.H., under the supervision of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. Consequently, the Medical Ethics Committee at the College of Medicine, Umm Al-Qura University, was established (no. HAPO-02-K-012) to follow and review medical research conducted by academic staff and students at the university.
Duties and Objectives of the Committee:
This committee is concerned with all aspects of health, including preventive health, psychological health, and social matters. It aims to maintain the safety and protect privacy of those participating in medical research, along with preserving human rights and dignity in accordance with Islamic law, traditions, customs, and the rules followed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
