The Vice Dean of the College of Medicine (female section) launched the Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the College of Medicine (female section), which lasts throughout the month of October every year. The event is run under the slogan of "Reducing the Risk of Breast Cancer", in cooperation with the Public Relations Unit and with the participation of the college female students.
The vice dean stated that the college plays its educational and preventive role through increasing societal awareness of health problems to raise the quality of life. This is by providing the best awareness and educational messages, and activating the world day events to promote health awareness.
Her Excellency Dr. Hala bint Fawzi Kamel, Associate Professor at the Biochemistry Department of the College, presented an awareness lecture entitled, "Breast Cancer: Risks and Methods of Early Detection". The lecture touched on basic information about the disease: its symptoms, methods of examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
The vice dean visited the educational exhibition especially held for the event, appreciating this step through which the College of Medicine reflects its educational and preventive role. She also stressed the importance of actively participating in awareness-raising activities that promote health awareness among all segments of the society. On her part, Her Excellency Dr. Alaa bint Muhammad Al-Urabi, Head of the Department of Infection Control at Ajyad Emergency Hospital, presented a number of paintings with her artistic touch urging early detection of breast cancer, covering its risk factors, and outlining methods of prevention.
