College of Health Sciences in ِAl-Leith participated in "Your Life is a Gift" campaign for prevention of the harmful effects and education on tobacco, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The campaign was held for three days as of Thursday 7 Rabi Thani at Prince Sultan Housing Complex at Al-Leith, organized by the Civil Development Committee at Al-Leith, in collaboration with Al-Leith College of Health Sciences and the Office of Advocacy and Guidance, where the campaign included many diverse events divided according to age groups, all geared to fight smoking and drugs and protect individuals from drifting into drug abuse that affect their health and their minds and thus affect their behavior. It also aims to raise the level of health awareness and guidance of community members.
Dean of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith Dr. Tarek Bin Abdallah Ahmad Zafar, advised that the College of Health Sciences participates in the campaign "Your Life is a Gift", with a selection of highly qualified specialized college professors. The college participation also includes health education and awareness corner, toxins and health hazards corner, free screening corner, obesity and vitamin D deficiency corner, and short stature in children, all of which aimed at raising health awareness among the community.
Dr. Zafar praised the partnership between the College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith and charities, stressing the educational duty and raising the awareness of citizens, in which all State institutions participate, in line with the "KSA 2030 Vision" in enhancing the role of the public and private sectors in KSA to transfer knowledge and skills for the service of the community with the highest professionalism and modern health techniques, on which it is focused concerning providing services and educational programs in the area of harmful, infectious and chronic diseases, contributing to creating a conscious community aiding people around, health promotion with healthy people and instilling the concept of health in society, and to have a healthy community, conscious towards any disease or health condition through modern and advanced methods.
For his part, Head of the Department of Public Health, College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith, Dr. Faleh bin Saud Al Yazidi advised that the campaign has been thoroughly studied as regards what we can do for the community concerning instilling correct awareness concepts, in order to provide an education and training awareness program containing papers and workshops on kinds of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their damage and ways of prevention and treatment.
Dr. Faleh Al Yazidi advised that "Your Life is a Gift" campaign aims to provide the participants and visitors with knowledge about the concept of smoking, drugs and psychotropic and the characteristics and mechanism of addiction and its occurrence, as well as the impact of drug harms caused to the mind, as well as family health , in addition to signs that some persons show before falling into drug abuse and the reasons to try the drug for the first time. The campaign was also keen to give the audience information about how to engage positively with children, sound family upbringing requirements and information about the role of therapeutic, security and guidance entities.
