Under the patronage of the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the UQU Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs represented in the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education is honored to invite you to attend the E-Learning Award ceremony on Sunday 10 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1440 A.H., corresponding to 18 November 2018 A.C., at 1:30 p.m. in King Abdul Aziz Historical Hall.

The ceremony will consist of three parts: honoring the faculty members and colleges that most frequently use electronic learning system; the launching of the Umm Al-Qura University E-Learning Award; and the launching of the new electronic learning system: Blackboard.

One of the best features of the Blackboard system is that it allows students and faculty members to communicate with the curriculum outside the university walls, wherever and whenever they wish. The Blackboard system provides many tools to navigate through the contents of the curriculum, surf the educational parts of the scientific material, and interact with them synchronically and asynchronously. The platform is an effective means of maintaining continuous contact with the teacher of the educational curriculum and all enrolled students. The Blackboard system contains many other programs that provide faculty members with the ability to easily design and create digital, dynamic, and interactive curricula. It also makes the management of curriculum content easier and smoother. After uploading the curriculum content, the system allows the teacher to connect each part of it to enriching activities such as discussions, forums, delivery folder, grading management program, and grades distribution.

Through these features and others, the Blackboard system facilitates better educational outcomes than traditional learning systems, giving teachers the ability to enrich their educational curriculum through technology and global online educational resources.

Umm Al-Qura University chose this system as part of a well-defined strategy that aims to improve the university's outcomes and accomplish the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
