Over three days the E-Learning and Long-Distance Education Deanship has been participating at the Suray pavilion as part of the Fresh Students symposium events. The Student Affairs Deanship has organized this symposium under the theme “a Promising Start” at the King Saud ibn Abdul-Aziz King hall in the Alabidiayh dormitory. It runs through September 20, 21 and 22, 2016.
Supervising the opening of the first day of the symposium, the University President, Dr. Bakri ibn Ma’atuqAs’as had a look on the content of the pavilion, and he was accompanied by the Educational Affairs vice Dean, Dr. Abdul-Aziz ibn Rashad Sruji as well as a group of the deans. Also, the E-Learning and Ling Distance Education Dean, Dr. Abdulkhaliq Abdulsalam displayed the top services the Deanship provides. Dr. Abdulkhaliq presented the repertoire to be shown for the Symposium’s visitors. Present were the Deanship’s Deputy Dean and a group of the E-learning and Long Distance Education Deanship departments.
It is worth mentioning that the E-Learning Deanship female students participate all along the symposium period during evening time in the same hall. During the evening time, a group of videos familiarizing with the Deanship’s services and the e-learning and its advantages are displayed.
Due to the importance of the student assessing the Deanship’s pavilion at the Symposium, one of new teaching methods has been used which is the (augmented reality) technology. It is meant for familiarizing the student with the most important teaching technologies. This is performed through using the ipad for scanning the previously-prepared signs, which are analyzed by the ipad. Then, the assessment appears and the student does what it takes. Similarly, printed materials have been available at the Deanship’s pavilion aiming at shortly familiarizing with its services. The student scans the “Code Q R” to get this information at their cell phone or ipad. In addition to this, the Deanship handed out bags and folders with its emblem emblazoned on them as well as manuals for the students featuring the e-learning system and its tools.
Within the same vein, Dr. Bakri praised the support and briefing the E-Learning and Long Distance Deanship has provided. He also wished the Umm Al-Qura University students a successful academic year. In a similar fashion, the Educational Affairs Deputy Dean, Dr. Abdul-Aziz ibn Rashad Sruji expressed his happiness about the Deanship’s fruitful participation at the fresh students.
