As part of the scientific events organized by UQU College of Applied Sciences under the supervision of Dr. Hatem bin Muhammad At-Tass, the Dean, the seventh scientific forum of the Mathematical Science Department for the second semester was held on Wednesday, 2nd Shaaban 1439H

under the theme:

 Algebraic Structures & Coding Theory

Presented by: Prof. Dr. Ahmad bin Ali Al-Khammash

Professor at the Mathematical Science Department

The event was held in the presence of a number of Al-Abediyah, Az-Zaher and Al-Aziziyah staff members at the Mathematical Science Department, as well as the interested in such forum.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Al-Khammash started the event with the definition of the Coding Theory. It was concerned with building secure and effective codes to transmit data from one source to another across different communication channels. He explained that the Theory of Shannon (1948) was the scientific background of the Coding Theory. It guaranteed secure and highly effective codes for error detection and correction despite expected disabilities in communication channels such as noise, poor quality, etc. During the forum, Dr. Al-Khammash also pointed out to the coding theory for error detection and correction. Moreover, he demonstrated the role of algebraic structures in code building, stressing the method to use ring-like and group-like structures in this respect.

Following the forum, a scientific discussion was raised between the attendees and Prof. Dr. Al-Khammash, who was honored at the end of the event by Prof. Dr. Basem bin Hussein Asghar, Vice-Dean of the College for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, with an appreciation shield for his participation in the presentation of such forum.
