Based on a request by faculty members, the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education has organized the second workshop about “ Fixed Infographic Design”.
The workshop is part of the effort to help faculty members gain skills in the field of educational design. It was organized on Thursday 5 April 2018, corresponding with 18 Rajab 1439AH, at the lab of E-learning at King Abdullah Library in Al-Abideyah. It was delivered by Engineer Ashraf Ibrahim, and Engineer Mohamed Al-Rowainy.
During his introduction to the concept of “Infographic”, Engineer Ashraf pointed out that the word “infographic” is abbreviated from the words “information” and “graphic”. Generally, “Infogrpahic” is any design or drawing that includes information or statistics on a specific topic, making the information easy to understand by the readers. Any presentation of information through drawings can be classified as “infographic”.
Additionally, infographic could be defined as the transformation of a certain amount of complex data or textual information into a mixture of pictures, drawings and texts that could allow readers to understand the main idea of the topic quickly and easily.
Following the theoretical presentation, the two trainers introduced the basic skills that allow faculty members to prepare their CVs in an infographic way, using the website piktochart.com. Moreover, all the tools available on the website were explained, whether to prepare a new design, or just to modify existing designs. The attendees were also informed of the various programs and websites that could help them design infographic content.
