Within the series of the scientific meetings that the College of Applied Sciences, under the supervision of Dr. Waleed bin Jamil Altaf, dean of the Applied Sciences College, the second scientific meeting at the Physics Department for the second semester was held on Wednesday, 21-5-1439 AH,
Assistant professor at the Department of Physics
In the presence of a number of the faculty members in Al-Abidya, along with female faculty members in Al-Zaher, and those interested in the meeting.
Dr. Hanan Amer discussed the nature of noise, how to calculate a person's dose of noise due to exposure to different levels of noise, and the factors that influence on hearing loss and diseases that can affect a person due to their exposure to high levels of noise.
She also referred that the study shows the resulting effects on the blood owing to exposure to different levels of noise frequency and intensity, and how they change some proteins in the blood as well as the concentration of certain ions by which the nerve impulses are transmitted; leading to the loss of neuronal cilia in charge of the conversion of sound waves to nerve impulses and delivering them to the brain, resulting in the loss of hearing gradually.
She also addressed the steps to be taken to keep hearing from high levels of noise.
After the scientific meeting, a discussion between the attendees and Dr. Hanan started around this topic. An appreciation shield was presented to Dr. Hanan for her participation in this scientific meeting.
