Overview:

UQU has made sure to keep up with the requirements of the educational breakthrough KSA is witnessing, in the light of growing demands of quality improvement of education process outputs. In this respect, administrative decision no. 10248 was issued on 17th Rajab 1421 H to establish Measurement and Assessment Unit, which directly reports to the Vice-President of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The unit had two sections: Human Resources Assessment and Statistical Studies. Later, it became one of the units under the Vice-Presidency of Academic Development and Community Service.

Presently, the unit is transformed into one of the vice-deanships of Academic Development and Specific Quality under the Vice-Presidency of Academic Development and Community Service. According to the new organizational structure, the vice-deanship consists of two units: Measurement & Assessment and Documentation & Statistical Studies.

 

Mission:

Constant development of the measurement and assessment system at UQU, including inputs, operations, outputs, and the related specific studies, in accordance with modern objective mechanisms; in order to improve UQU performance and educational outputs

Objectives:

  1. To spread the culture of measurement and assessment quality, and raising awareness of the necessity to develop measurement and assessment in order to elevate educational processes;
  2. To design and set various assessment tools;
  3. To create an electronic database for different assessment tools;
  4. To conduct research and offering guidance and consultation in educational and professional assessment fields;
  5. To make use of modern technology in mechanization of measurement and assessment system at all stages;
  6. To study local, regional, and international experiences to benefit from in measurement and assessment field;
  7. To provide automated objective test correction and statistical analysis services;
  8. To measure performance indicators and provide regular reports on such indicators;
  9. To cooperate and coordinate with other vice-deanships and units at the Deanship of Academic Development and Specific Quality so as to achieve the general objectives of the deanship 

 

The Vice-deanship of Measurement and Assessment - Units

First: Measurement and Assessment Unit:

One of the units affiliated to the Vice-deanship of Academic Development and Specific Quality for Measurement and Assessment, which is concerned with measurement and assessment processes, including inputs, operations, and outputs.

The unit comprises two sections: Academic Performance Assessment Section and Education Targeted Output Assessment Section, which is directly associated with student tests.

Tasks:

  1. Spreading the culture of measurement and assessment quality, and raising awareness of the necessity to develop measurement and assessment in order to elevate educational processes;
  2. Designing and setting various assessment tools;
  3. Creating an electronic database for different assessment tools;
  4. Conducting research and offering guidance and consultation in educational and professional assessment fields;
  5. Making use of modern technology in mechanization of measurement and assessment system at all stages;
  6. Studying local, regional, and international experiences to benefit from in measurement and assessment field.

 

Second: Documentation, Statistical Studies and Research Unit:

A recently established unit within the new organizational structure of the Vice-deanship of Measurement and Assessment for the purpose of documenting measurement and assessment processes and procedures at UQU. The unit is also tasked with conducting research and studies to develop measurement and assessment system at UQU in particular, and higher education in general.

Tasks:

  1. Conducting research and offering support and consultation in the field of measurement and assessment;
  2. Studying local, regional, and international experiences to benefit from in measurement and assessment field;
  3. Offering the necessary recommendations to the concerned authorities based on studies findings;
  4. Documenting and archiving measurement and assessment processes and procedures in paper and electronic forms.
