In view of the overlap and integration among computer disciplines, the College decided to provide a joint integrated program to enable students to combine all the skills, fundamentals and knowledge to develop integrated computer systems. In addition to basic and research knowledge, the program is concerned with refining students' practical skills such as technical writing and project management.
The proposed joint master’s program aims to:
- Providing specialized academic studies in the domain of computer.
- Encouraging basic and applied research in the domain of computer.
- Preparing highly trained cadres to engage in industrial work and knowledge-based innovation.
- Increasing demand for the highly qualified competencies in the domain of computer.
- Achieving integration and interrelationship between the curricula of computer engineering and computer sciences in postgraduate studies.
- Encouraging several universities in the Kingdom to set up joint postgraduate programs between the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Examples to this are the Joint Master's and PhD Program at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and the Joint PhD program at King Saud University (KSU).
- Providing sufficient postgraduate programs in computers in Makkah.
- Utilizing the excellent experience at the Departments of Engineering and Computer Science in teaching at the bachelor's degree. In other words, the college desires to transfer such experience to the level of postgraduate studies.
