Prince Khaled Al Faisal, Emir of Makkah and advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on Sunday, Jumada al-Thani 27, 1438H hailed efforts exerted by the College of Health Sciences in Al Leith to achieve objectives of the initiative "How to be a role model?" which were launched at the Makkah Cultural Forum. The Prince made the remarks during a visit to to Al Leith.
In a tour at the college, he reviewed programs and initiatives adopted by the college and stopped to listen to Dean Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Dhafr who gave him a presentation on the college's five initiatives.
In his presentation, Dr. Dhafr acquainted Prince Faisal with the main idea of the project which was as old as the college.
According to the dean, the four-year old idea has been a dream for all staff who managed to make it a reality with keen support by the Ministry of Education and the University. To this end, former dean of the college Dr. Fares Altaf has played the major role to successfully set a plan and a clear vision for the project, Dr. Dhafr said.
In the same context, Dr. Dhafr added the unit was equipped with the most sophisticated tools in the field to preserve quality of the research and awareness services. According to the dean, the unit's objectives include regular visits to schools, colleges and towns and villages in Al Leith and Makkah to make the necessary field survey and research. Also, it takes the preventive measures and raise awareness among people on principle "Prevention is better than Cure" in addition to the provision of health services to pilgrims in cooperation with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Researches.
The unit, he continues, provides training for interns to practice under the supervision of the college's staff. Also, the unit is part of a plan to establish a database needed for the strategic planning and improvement of health services in the academic and research fields as well as the community services.
The unit has been known for a set of features that include the attractive design and huge size to receive test, lab and sample equipment and supplies in addition to other devices which were provided according to the international standards, the dean said.
He added: it is equipped with thermal and acoustic insulation system to guarantee safety of the mobile unit and to safely get red of the medical and health wastes in an environment-friendly way with separate power generation facility.
Dr. Dhafr noted an exhibition was annexed to the unit in which editions of scientific and educational journals were in place alongside research devices and sterilization equipment to be an example for the best in the region and in the Middle East.
The Dean extended thanks to those who took part in the project praising achievements made by the cice-deans, professors, staff and students of the college.
Also, he extended thanks to Prince Faisal in the name of the college for his keen support to the higher education process and for his regular visit to Al Leith region on annual basis to follow up and motivate education facilities to carry on their mission.
