The College of Applied Sciences, represented by the Student Council, on Wednesday, 11-8-1442 A.H., held the second session of the program of “Discussion Sessions on Science”.

The second discussion session was entitled, “Chemistry in the Future”, and was hosted by Dr. Sulafa Nassar, Dr. Noha Halawani, Dr. Jalal Al-Thaqafi and Dr. Muhammad Hawsawi from the Department of Chemistry at the college. The discussion began by talking about analytical chemistry and its role in scientific research. This was followed by a discussion about the future of organic chemistry in the pharmaceutical industries and the discovery of drugs.

Finally, the most important skills future chemists need for study and employment were discussed.

The dialogue was moderated by the President of the Student Council in the female section, the student Maha Al-Aqeel, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, Prof. Wael Al-Amoudi, His Excellency the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ismail Al-Thaqafi, and Her Excellency the Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Tahani Bawazeer.

The dialogue session witnessed a distinguished presence of academic staff members and students, in which the attendees were allowed to pose questions and discuss the various themes of the meeting.

In concluding, Dr. Ismail Al-Thaqafi extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the session guests for their active participation in the program. He also thanked the coordinator, Ms. Esraa Obaid, for her efforts in organizing the event. Finally, another meeting was scheduled for next week for the third dialogue session.
