College of Applied Sciences Organizes a Course in Collaboration with the College of Computer Entitled: ‘Information Security and Data Protection’

The College of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the College of Computer and Information Systems, held a course entitled: “Information Security and Personal Data Protection”. The course was held remotely via the WebEx program on Tuesday, 18 Rajab 1442 A.H., and was offered by Her Excellency Dr. Ahad bint Muhammad Al-Jarf, Assistant Professor of Information Security at Umm Al-Qura University and Vice Dean of the College of Computer and Information Systems.

The course was launched by the Vice Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Female Students Affairs, Dr. Tahani Bawazir, who welcomed the honorable audience of the affiliates of the college and its male and female students, and the honorable audience from outside the college. Her Excellency praised the fruitful cooperation between the two colleges, which contributes to the enrichment of knowledge and the exchange of experience.

Her Excellency Dr. Ahad Al-Jarf started the presentation of the topics of the course that cast light on the most important skills in the field of information security and protection systems, in addition to the manner of dealing with the dangers of cybersecurity.

Dr. Al-Jarf also reviewed how to protect any smart device in a practical and professional way. She then talked about the essence of cybersecurity, the detection and analysis of attempts and methods of attack and penetration, and the use of the best tools to protect the information system of Internet users. The course had a good turnout, and the audience had a chance to pose questions about the topic of the course.

At the end, Dr. Tahani Bawazir, on behalf of the Dean of the College, Prof. Wael Al-Amoudi, expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the course presenter, Her Excellency Dr. Ahad Al-Jarf, for her active participation in offering this course. She also extended her thanks to the College of Computer and information Systems, and praised the cooperation between the two colleges.
