Participation of Female Students of the College of Applied Sciences in the Competition: Umm Al-Qura Innovations

Coinciding with the Global Entrepreneurship Week (2020), organized by the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a number of female students at the College of Applied Sciences participated in the competition of "Umm Al-Qura Innovations", which aim in its second season to provide creative solutions for obstacles in distance education. The competition witnessed participation of a group of female college students: Najma Al-Fahmi and Haniyah Maghrabi from the Department of Chemistry along with Azza Al-Manawi from the Department of Biology, under the supervision of Dr. Tasahil Al-Bishi.

Their participation consisted in making a creative piece of work represented in a prototype of a comfortable pillow having a massage device to relax while studying, in addition to Bluetooth headphones and an alarm to remind the person to change his sitting position from time to time. This product was programmed in the Modeling Laboratories at the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

On her part, the Vice Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Tahani Bawazir, hightlighted the keenness of the college to motivate and support students, and enhance creativity and innovation among them. She then extended her sincere thanks to the Assistant Vice President for Educational Affairs and Vice Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Najwa Samarqandi, for the efforts exerted by the institute to develop the skills of the female students and hone their talents in innovation and entrepreneurship. She also extended her thanks to the participants in the competition and the supervisor of the female students, wishing them success and excellence in their coming participations.
