The College of Applied Sciences Holds the First Meeting with the Student Council

The College of Applied Sciences held its first meeting with the student council, which has recently been formed. The meeting was launched by Dr. Ismail Al-Thaqafi, Vice Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Educational Affairs, who welcomed the members and congratulated them for being selected as the representatives of the male and female students of the College of Applied Sciences.

On her part, the Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Tahani Bawazir, welcomed the male and female students and wished them all success in performing their new duties as members of the council.

Dr. Al-Thaqafi explained the main objectives and duties of the student council, including the role of the council in actively participating in the student activities and increasing the awareness of their colleagues by informing them of their rights and duties in the university. This is in addition to undertaking the important role of the council in communicating the voice of the student, along with identifying their problems and submitting them to the college.

The members of the student council participated with a number of suggestions and questions, and expressed their aspirations in carrying out their tasks in the most convenient manner possible to serve their colleagues.

The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations, as follows:

  • Preparing an executive plan for the work of the council.
  • Holding an introductory meeting with the student council.
  • Showing keenness to contribute effectively in raising awareness of the student on the importance of participation in the students activities.
  • Proposing a number of training courses.

This meeting comes within the keenness of the college to activate the role of the student council, which in turn undertakes a number of duties which serve the male and female students and help them to overcome challenges facing them during their academic progress.
