As part of the series of scientific lectures organized by the College of Applied Sciences, a scientific lecture was held by the College’s Physics Department on Wednesday, 2/6/1438 Hijri. The lecture was titled “Atomic Force Microscope and Near-field Scanning Optical Microscope and their Application in Nanosciences” and was given by Dr. Mohammed bin Omar Bostimi, Associate Professor of Physics.
The lecture was attended by the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Waleed bin Jamil Altaf, his Vice Deans, a number of male faculty staff from Al-Abidia branch and female staff from Al-Zaher branch.
Dr. Bostimi talked about the scanning microscope for describing and handling microorganism in the air and shed light on the basics of this microscope and its application in inanimate objects and biology, as well as its application in nanotechnology. Following the lecture, a scientific discussion was held among the attendees and the lecturer about the different types and usages of different microscopes.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. Bositimi was honored by the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassim bin Hussein Asghar, and was awarded a certificate of appreciation for his contributions in this scientific meeting.
