According to the principle of achieving effective communication with students of postgraduate studies in the college, the College of Applied Sciences held induction briefings to introduce the paid postgraduate programs in the college. The briefings came as part of the program of the New Students Forum for the First-Year Postgraduate Students 1442 A.H., and were attended by His Excellency the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Vice Dean of the College (female section), the heads and deputy heads of the academic departments, and the program coordinators.
The briefings took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 20 and 21 Muharram, 1442 A.H., from 2 to 3 p.m., via the WebEx platform.
On its first day, the program included an opening event presented by the Vice Dean of the College for the female section, Dr. Tahani Bawazir. After that, His Excellency the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Basem Asghar, gave a speech addressed to our male and female students.
Next, introductory presentations for the postgraduate programs were made, shedding light on the main themes of the meeting, including an introduction to the academic programs, evaluation mechanisms, academic thesis registration requirements, and graduation requirements.
On his part, Dr. Husain Abu Al-Rish, the Coordinator of Postgraduate Programs at the Department of Biology, talked about the programs offered by the department, giving an introductory overview of each program and its requirements.
This was followed by a presentation by the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Moataz Murad, in which he gave a detailed explanation of the program offered by the department and the most important points that a postgraduate student must pay attention to in order to achieve success and distinction at this stage of study.
The second day of briefings continued with a presentation by the Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahmari, on the various postgraduate programs available at the department this year, including master and doctorate programs in different majors.
The Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Omar Al-Salmi, also made a presentation explaining all the programs offered by the department, expounding on the requirements for each program. This was followed by a speech by Professor Khaled Abdul-Wahid about the Pure Physics program and the available research fields for a postgraduate student in this program.
The event also included a question and answer session for male and female students, when questions were put through audio and written posts, and answers were given by the staff in charge of the academic programs in the departments.
