Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, obtained the international accreditation “Quality Seal for E-Courses” from Quality Matters, the organization which deals with the standards of quality assurance for e-courses at the international level. The courses that won the accreditation include: “Introduction to Medical Physics” 4800131-4, and “Principles of Marketing”, both having been developed by the deanship within the framework of implementing the project of developing the study courses electronically. It is worth mentioning that the two courses are provided electronically using the ‘blended learning’ system.
The two courses obtained full marks after the completion of the internal assessment process carried out by the affiliates of the digital production department in the deanship as internal QM accredited examiners. This was followed by the official assessment of the organization which was carried out by international examiners, who reviewed the electronic courses according to QM standards. In this regard, the deanship endeavors to obtain international accreditation for five developed electronic courses which will be offered by the end of 2020 through the ‘blended learning’ system, according to international quality standards based on scientific research, best practices, and peer review.
His Excellency the Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Khalid bin Hatim Al-Mutairi, said this approach is part of the deanship’s plan to ensure the quality of e-courses, in accordance with the university’s approach in seeking excellence in the orientation and practices of e-learning systems and the quality of teaching.
