On Sunday, 1 December, 2019 A.C., under the auspices of the Dean of Al-Leith College of Health Sciences, Dr. Tariq bin Abdullah Ahmad Zhafar, in cooperation with the management of Omar bin Al-Khattab Secondary School in Al-Ghala which is managed by His Excellency Mr. Turki bin Eid Al-Oufi, and under the supervision of Dr. Al-Ashari Adam Eissa Hamdun, the students of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith organized the celebration of the World AIDS Day under the slogan: "Communities Make an Impact". The World Health Organization (WHO) highlights the impact of communities on efforts to eradicate HIV, drawing global attention to the need to work with them more broadly to improve primary health care.
The World AIDS Day program included giving an awareness lecture, and providing scientific and educational activities about AIDS. A set of posters was also used to identify the ways of transmission and prevention of the disease, and leaflets were distributed to students. The program was well received by school students.
The school principal, His Excellency Mr. Turki bin Eid Al-Oufi, thanked the representatives of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith for this wonderful initiative. He called for the repetition of such programs for their significant role in raising the health awareness of the students, which in turn is reflected on the community.
At the end of the program, the representatives of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Leith thanked the management of Omar bin Al-Khattab Secondary School in Al-Ghala and His Excellency Mr. Turki Al-Oufi.
