On Tuesday, Rabi’ al-awwal 21, 1438H, the College of Health Sciences in Al-Laith hosted the first meeting for the deans of the colleges in Al-Laith governorate. The meeting was held at the meeting hall at the college, and it aimed to reinforce the communication and build cooperation bridges among the colleges, as well as push the development wheel and encourage mutual cooperation so as to better serve the educational process and the society at large.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hamed bin Ahmad Al-Shanbari, Dean of the University College in Al-Laith, Dr. Muhammad bin Salem Al-Zahrani, Dean of the College of Computers and the College of Engineering, Dr. Anas bin Siraj Dabloul, Vice-Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Amer bin Saeed Al-Shahri, Head of the Department of Social Service, Dr. Faleh bin Massoud Al-Yazidi, Head of the Department of Public Health, and a number of faculty members at the College of Health Sciences.
Dr. Tarek bin Abdullah Dhafer, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, gave a word in which he welcomed the esteemed guests and thanked them for their attendance, then he expressed his admiration for the positive results that such meetings always deliver. He also confirmed that all suggestions, discussions and different experiences will be addressed transparently during the meeting for the sake of learning from them and benefiting from the successful experiences.
In addition, he denoted that the college is eager to host this meeting with the aim of reinforcing the communication among the deans of the colleges whom are partners in the educational process. Further, Dr. Dhafer highlighted that the meeting serves the plan of UQU and the Deanship of the College of Health Sciences in Al-Laith that seek to encourage research, academic and societal interaction among the faculty members, the students and the deans of the colleges.
Over and above, he assured the importance of developing the performance of the colleges to be in line with the needs of the labor market so as to offer the students the knowledge and education they need for their academic and professional future.
Eventually, he said that this meeting is considered the beginning of a series of meetings that are expected to be a platform to establish the concept of cooperation among all colleges and faculty members to achieve the best interest of the university and its students.
During the meeting, ways of mutual cooperation have been discussed along with coordination criteria among the colleges in some scientific programs and training courses. Moreover, the meeting also shed light on the administrative development plans and how to cope with different programs and new technologies. Besides, the necessity of delivering comprehensive workshops on the traffic in front of the colleges has been discussed, and the esteemed deans confirmed the importance of developing emergency and evacuation plans, and creating safe and secure environment for all university students and members.
Concluding, the meeting has come up with a number of recommendations; on top of which establishing a new independent department under the name “Department of Safety and Security” to maintain security in the university, and establish safety measures in all educational establishments and their affiliated buildings.
