College of Health Sciences in Leith Honors Former Dean

As a sign of loyalty, gratitude and appreciation, a pleasant farewell ceremony was held by the College of Health Sciences in Leith on Wednesday 24th Safar 1438H and attended by a variety of its affiliates, staff members and guests. The ceremony was to honor Dr. Fares Bin Muhammad Nour Altaf, the College’s former Dean who had to resign due to personal circumstances. Dr. Fares Altaf is considered the founder of the College of Health Sciences in Leith. He exerted a lot of great efforts and contributions in the foundation of the College until it became such a lofty educational place that embraced hundreds of male and female students, prepared elite of specialists in the domains of public health, preventive medicine and health administration, and comprised many health departments.      

The ceremony involved a lot of shows and farewell speeches, on top of which came the speech by Dr. Tarik bin Abdullah Ahmed Zafar, the current Dean of the College. Dr. Zafar praised the evident role, appreciated effort and great contribution of the former Dean in the foundation and development of the College and the academic and administrative departments thereof. He expressed that Dr. Altaf had played a remarkable part in turning the College from a mere dream into a real entity that we were proud of along with its affiliates, students and scientific and research output. From his side, Dr. Zafar promised to continue contribution and development. He also praised the rest of his colleagues at the College and wished them support and guidance in their scientific missions for the benefit of the College, UQU and the affiliates thereof.      

Afterwards, speeches of farewell, thanks and gratitude were given by all the College’s affiliates. The celebrated former Dean participated in the ceremony through a farewell speech in which he extended deep thanks to all the attendees for the great efforts they exerted with him in the phase of foundation, and for their continuous support, good fellowship, warm feelings and lovely farewell. He then wished that Allah would grant them His guidance.

The ceremony was concluded by handing memorial shields and souvenirs and certificates of appreciation to the celebrated former Dean. Then, all the attendees dined together. In this context, the College of Health Sciences in Leith wishes Dr. Fares Altaf guidance in his new work missions.
