College of Public Health and Health Informatics Holds the First Scientific Meeting for Graduation Research

The College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University held, "The First Scientific Forum for Graduation Research for the Students of the College", on Wednesday, 5 Sha`ban, 1440 A.H., at the university headquarters in Al-Abdiyyah, in King Abdulaziz Historical Support Hall (1) for males and Hall (2) for females. It was held with the support of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, in the presence of the Dean of the College Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgaith, vice deans of the college, heads of departments, some of the managers of the training centers, and students participating with their research.

Six research projects were displayed during two scientific sessions. The scientific exhibition included 55 research projects which included graduation research posters that were conducted through the current and the previous academic year. Some of these research efforts were published in peer-reviewed journals. The attendants listened to a detailed explanation about the content, ideas and results of these research projects on the part of the students who conducted the research.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgaith, the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, pointed out that the First Scientific Forum for Graduation Research is an important event that the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah ibn Omar Bafail, and the college pay great attention to because it plays an effective role in motivating students to acquire scientific and research skills. The meeting also helps in endorsing students' personal skills, such as presentation skills and active communication. He stressed the importance of the meeting in creating sound educational outcomes that achieve the developmental objectives and keep pace with updates and developments in the field of public health and health informatics, with its different specializations.

His Excellency stressed the importance of scientific research in our modern time for the advancement and development of nations. Consequently, the College of Public Health and Health Informatics placed, within its research strategies and priorities, the support of scientific research conducted by its students. It also encourages its students to engage in the college scientific research system to create an ideal environment for scientific research.

Finally, he expressed sincere thanks to the university administration, headed by His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, for the unlimited support to scientific research in the university.

At the end of the forum, a committee from the academic staff at the college evaluated the participating research projects, defined the winners, and handed awards to the first three positions.
