Within the framework of the periodical development meetings for academic staff members and as part of the "We Develop Ourselves and Others" initiative, the College of Public Health and Health Informatics held its fourth development activity on Monday 11 Rajab 1440 A.H., corresponding to 18 March 2019 A.C. His Excellency the Dean of the College, Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgaith, their Excellencies the vice deans of the college, heads of departments, and academic staff attended the activity.

The activity included a training course on making use of e-services and developing the academic staff pages at the Umm Al-Qura University portal. It was offered by a team from the Deanship of Information Technology headed by Mr. Jihad Walid Al-Sirri, Mr. Muhammad bin Musa Al-Ansari, and Mr. Ziad Walid Al-Sirri.

The team displayed the e-services offered at Umm Al-Qura University e-portal, which can be used by colleges, departments, academic staff, students, administrative employees, and other university employees. These services include news, activities, electronic forms, appointments and reservations, adding content, photos and files library, e-tickets and e-workflows, and formal academic staff pages and resumes.

The team explained how to access the services, upload and edit the content, and publish it for public viewing. The process of creating and updating content includes the approval of a draft that can then be published on the e-portal. The Deanship of Faculty Members and Employees Affairs participates in the process of approval and permission for resumes, and the Deanship of Information Technology for college and department websites.

The team discussed the advantages of and differences between e-ticketing and e-workflows, and their advantages over e-archiving and the administrative communication program (Masar). They pointed out the manner of using helping tools as ready designed templates, visual identity, banners, evaluation, geographical location, short links, etc.

They reviewed the ways in which academic staff can improve their formal pages using the available design and editing tools.

They discussed some of the mistakes made by the owners of personal pages who design more than one page (Mawqi`i [My Website]), upload the content in a language different from that of the website, and delay approval of the content that requires approval and authorization by other bodies.

The college and its affiliates expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Deanship of Information Technology for its outstanding efforts and services that enhance all technical aspects of the university.
