The team from the College of Applied Sciences achieved their first win in the UQU President Football Championship in their first match against the team from the College of Pharmacy. The team from the College of Applied Science was led by Dr. Ali Abdu Saqil and Dr. Nizar Omar Al-Qasimi of the Chemistry Department.

In the first half of the game, the team of the College of Pharmacy led by one goal to nil, and with the start of the second half they scored a second goal. However, the task was not difficult for the champions of the College of Applied Sciences, as their player, Anwar Asaad Rawas, scored a goal in the 10th minute of the second half, and then the same player scored the equalizing goal in the 15th minute of the second half. Before the end of the match, the same player scored his third winning goal in the match. As such, the team moved to the second match against the team of Al-Leith University College.
