The Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education has organized a course on the open educational resources SHMS platform today, Monday, 20 Safar, 1440 A.H., corresponding to 29 October, 2018.
This course has been organized in coordination with the National Center for E-Learning with the support of His Excellency the Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Khalid Al-Mutiry. This course was inaugurated by the Vice-Dean of Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Yasser Al-Hazimy, and was held at the e-learning labs at the deanship's premises in the University City in Al-`Abdiyyah. It was delivered by two members accredited by SHMS: Dr. Al-As`ad Al-Samirany and Dr. Mundhir Al-Hamzawy.
At the inauguration of the course, the Vice-Dean of Academic Development and Community Service confirmed that an intensive program has been prepared, containing a number of training courses on the SHMS platform, and is being implemented with the strenuous efforts of the Department of Training and E-Courses. He pointed out that the National Center for E-Learning will give great prizes to participants who achieve outstanding performance in sending or creating educational resources on the SHMS platform.
The SHMS platform offers many tools for use by the faculty members, who can create new OER content to meet the unique needs of students, find educational resources, and amend them to create their own content. It also includes the Open Author tool, which can be used to create and collaborate on new resources. Moreover, texts, images, sounds, videos, and supplemental materials can be combined into resources that can be shared, remixed, and amended with colleagues around the world.
