In the framework of the implementation of its introductory programs and activities for the current semester and with the coordination of the College of Applied Sciences; the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education held an introductory meeting about the usage of the e-learning system for the students and teaching staff members of the Department of Physics in the College of Applied Sciences. The meeting was presented by Dr. Al-Asaad Qassem Al-Samerany on Wednesday, Jumada I 14, 1439H, corresponding to January 31, 2018, at the College of Engineering’s theatre of the University City in Al-Abediya. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Hemed, the Vice Dean for Technical Affairs; Dr. Saleh Al-Loqamani, the Head of the Department of Physics; and Dr. Khaled Abd Al-Wahed and Dr. Ahmed Al-Dafrawy, the two accredited trainers; in addition to a group from the college’s teaching staff members.
The meeting included two main parts: The first one is represented in an introductory presentation about the E-learning and its advantages and about the E-learning portal and its tools. The second part will include logging into the system and the educational curriculum, in addition to explaining the features of each tool of the E-learning system tools. At the beginning of the meeting, different training programs of the Deanship were presented, which included various sessions for the fundamentals of the E-learning and specialized courses as well. It is worth mentioning that the deanship is holding sessions as per the request of the colleges. The introductory presentation also included, in the first part, a detailed explanation for all the contents of the main page of the E-learning portal. The presentation tackled three topics: the importance of the E-learning and the infrastructure available at the Umm Al-Qura University; how to manage the curricula and the learning environment; and how to build the electronic content. The event also focused on the tools that would facilitate the matter on the teaching staff members to perform in the educational process easily.
The organization of this event comes as a part of the introductory program prepared by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, and supervised by Dr. Khaled Al-Mutairi, the Dean of the Deanship.
