Within a string of scientific meetings organized by the Applied Sciences College, and under the supervision of Dr. Waleed Jamil Altaf, dean of the Applied Sciences College, the fifth scientific meeting was held, at the level of the college and related to the department of chemistry, on Wednesday: 18-3-1439 AH,

Entitled:

‎State-Of-the-Art Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy Coupled with Electrochemical Techniques as a Probe to Visualise Interfacial Physicochemical Processes.‎

By Dr.:

Tahani bin Mohamed Bawazeer

Assistant Professor at the Chemistry Department

In the presence of a number of M/F staff members of the Applied Sciences College, along with those interested in this scientific meeting.

Dr. Tahani talked about developing a new technique that combines electrochemical methods and the ways to take images by a high-resolution optical microscopy in terms of time and photograph, and applies them to several forms aiming at different scientific fields; including the study of the dental erosion rate, and the assessment of the effectiveness of inhibitors in the toothpaste. This part of the study was conducted in collaboration with the British company GSK to develop their products.

Also, this technique was applied so as to study the accuracy of the optical and electrical sensors of an electronic chip made of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which were specifically prepared for this study in laboratories specialized in this technology for the purpose of producing photovoltaics that are used in the field of solar cells and electronic panels.

These studies have won several international awards, and the most notably was the award for outstanding research from Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf, Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Following this scientific meeting, a scientific discussion on this subject was held between the M/F faculty members and Dr. Tahani, and during which she received a shield for her participation in this meeting.
