In its framework of implementing its training program for the current academic year and with the coordination of Jamoum University College, the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education held a workshop on using the e-learning system on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, equivalent to Rabi' I 4, 1439H, at Jamoum University College. The event was presented by Dr. Asaad Qasem Al-Semirani.

The workshop witnessed an outstanding presence from the teaching staff members of Jamoum University College, led by Dr. Amer Al-Jezawi, the candidate for the Certified Trainer Program at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, who was keen on the well coordination, organization, and preparation, and the success of the event. The workshop was also attended by the Dean of Jamoum University College, Vice Deans and the Head of departments.

The training day, which lasted for more than three hours, included two main parts: an introductory presentation and a workshop that included direct interaction with the participants on their curricula.

At the beginning of the training event, a variety of training programs of the deanship were presented that included many courses for e-learning basics and specialized courses, in addition to the workshops held by the deanship as per the colleges' request. The introductory presentation contained a detailed explanation for the contents of the main page of the e-learning gate and tackled three topics: the importance of the e-learning; the available infrastructure at Umm Al-Qura University; curricula management; learning environment; and content building. It also focused on the tools that would facilitate the educational process for the teaching staff member.

The trainer was keen on teaching the staff members skills related to grade management, how to connect the grading tool to the submission file and making use of the export and import tool in the table of contents for the curriculum.

The second part of the event was allocated for the scientific sides, as the participants were asked to enter the e-learning gate, choosing a curriculum of the current semester, and applying all what was given in the first part of the workshop. The dialogue was enjoyable between the trainer and = participants, as the attendees' questions enriched the event.

The workshop comes as a part of a training program prepared by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, which aims at introducing the e-learning, its definition and contents; and giving essential skills to the teaching staff members to apply them on their current curricula. The implementation of the program is under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Al-Mutairi, the Dean of the deanship; and Dr. Yasser Al-Hazemi, the Vice Dean for Academic Development and Community Service.
