As part of the scientific events organized by UQU College of Applied Sciences under the supervision of the Dean, Dr. Waleed bin Jameel Altaf. The first scientific forum for Chemistry Department was held on Wednesday, 14/1/1439 H under the theme "Infrared Rays and Gas Chromatography Using Qmetrics to Study Toxic Effect of Non-biomaterials on Metabolic Changes in Resistant Bacteria" by Chemistry Assistant Professor, Dr. Ali Sokail.
The event was attended by a number of college of Applied Sciences staff and science enthusiasts.
Dr. Sokail started off with addressing the importance of metabolic interactions, Qmetrics, and analytical chemistry in understanding the characteristics and functions of living cell. He then talked about the toxic effect of Propranolol on bacteria; and the use of bacteria in E-Flex pumps to reduce toxicity of drug. The forum also tackled the paramount importance of using analytical devices to derive information that could help understand biochemical interactions within living cell, including cell functions via measuring change variation of biochemical compounds.
Later, a number of attendance discussed the topics presented with Dr. Sokail an in conclusion, he was honored by the Vice-dean of College of Applied Sciences for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Basim bin Hussein Asghar, who awarded Sokail a shield for his efforts in that scientific event.
