Review and approve course proposals and modifications to existing courses, considering factors such as student feedback, faculty expertise, and emerging trends in the field of English Literature.

Review Literature course specifications and their learning outcomes to ensure they meet academic standards and reflect the latest developments in the field, and then report committee’s recommendations to the Curricula committee and submit progress reports to the Quality and Academic Accreditation committee.

Identify the subdisciplines needed in the field of literary studies and submitting recommendations to the Curricula committee and those concerned with faculty members (i.e. the Recruitment and Contracting Committee and the TA and Lecturer Committee).

Review scholarship application requests submitted by Literature faculty members to both local and international universities.

Participate in the recruitment and selection process of faculty members specialized in various areas of English Literature, as well as providing support for their professional development through workshops, seminars, and research opportunities.

Submit to the Head of Department for approval and/or amendment, the Minutes of each committee meeting to be reported to the Department Council on an annual basis.

Submit to the Head of Department for approval and/or amendment an annual report on the work of the committee in the preceding academic year (12 months following the annual restructuring of the committee) to be forwarded to the Department Council for record keeping purposes as well as to handover to the new committee.
