Description of the MSc Program in Electrical Engineering
The MSc Program in Electrical Engineering was developed primarily for Electrical Engineering students, or students in relevant fields, who have obtained a specialization certificate from a recognized academic institution. The program grants students of the postgraduate studies opportunities to fulfill the requirements (prerequisites) of their academic degree through numerous options of the courses of postgraduate studies and the various research activities. The program grants a Master’s of Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering along with one of the specific specializations accredited in the Department of Electrical Engineering. The specific specializations of the Department of Electrical Engineering are as follows:
- Electronics Engineering
- Communication Engineering
- Electrical Power Engineering
The academic system and the requirements for obtaining the degree:
The system of study of the MSc Program in Electrical Engineering will be according to one of the following streams:
- The Stream of Courses and Thesis with a total of 36 accredited study units.
- The Stream of Courses and Research Project with a total of 42 accredited study units.
All students should select the Academic Guide, and choose one of the academic streams, before registration for courses of more than 9 accredited study units. Students should contact the department's postgraduate studies coordinator for co-operation in setting the plan.
First: The Stream of Courses and Thesis

The student studies in this stream are the following:
- Three obligatory courses totaling 9 accredited study units.
- Six elective courses distributed as follows:
- Not less than four elective specialized courses accredited for the Masters degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, chosen from the courses of the specific specialization in which the student registers, and the total of which is not less than 12 accredited study units.
- A maximum of two elective specialized courses of the accredited courses for the Masters degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, chosen from the courses of the specific specialization in which the student registers, of the other specific specializations, of the general elective courses, or of the other departments after obtaining the approval of the supervision committee, the total of which is not more than 6 accredited study units.
- The Master's Thesis (802699) is equivalent to (9) accredited study units, that should be written in English language in the field of the specific specialization, and according to the requirements of the department and the university.
