About the Department

You are welcome to visit the official web-page of Electrical Engineering(EE) Department at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU). EE Department at UQU was established in 1986. At the start of the first term of the academic year 1406 AH (1986), the first class joined the Department of Electrical Engineering. The degree awarded by the Electrical Engineering Department is Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. There are 27 full time faculty members in the department specialized in areas of research including Energy Systems, Communications, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Electronics, and Electromagnetics, etc. The state of the art laboratories in the department provide students hands-on experience in electrical engineering systems design and analysis. The EE program is also dedicated to periodic curriculum assessment and committed to continuous improvement through assessment and evaluation processes that involve all constituents. The students are adequately prepared to join the engineering practice equipped with the important communication, ethical, life-long learning, leadership, and effective team skills. The department’s commitment to continuous improvement has been the driving factor toward renewal of the curriculum based on the feedback of faculty, External Advisory Board (EAB), and in accordance with the International Academic Accreditation Criteria. EE curriculum (Plan-25) has been renewed and replaced by new plan (Plan-30) based on feedback from program’s constituents. A consistent and committed EAB provides strong collaboration between faculty and industry, student filed trips, student summer trainings, and employment opportunities.
