Lecture on “Mechanism of Application to UQU Internal Grants”

On Monday 30/5/1438 Hijri, February 27, 2017, the College of Public Health and Informatics, Umm Al-Qura University, held an informative lecture titled “Mechanism of Application to UQU Internal Grants” for all faculty staff. The lecture was held as part of the activities and efforts of the College to spread the culture of scientific research and its mechanisms, and in cooperation with the Deanship of Scientific Research; and aims at spreading and promoting scientific research practices. The lecture was given by Dr. Aly Hassan Mohammed Amin, Consultant and Supervisor of the Internal Grants Program in the Deanship of Scientific Research for Grants and Research Projects, Umm Al-Qura University, and was attended by departments’ supervisor and faculty staff.

Dr. Amin briefly discussed the available internal research projects and internal grants programs in the UQU. The grants programs include the following programs: “Wa’ida” (Promising), “Baheth” (Researcher), “Ra’id” (Pioneer), “Daress” (Student) and “Motarjem” (Translator), and he explained the specific nature of each and the mechanism for proposals submission.

Dr. Amin also presented a visual presentation, during which he attended to some queries by the attending staff members. Among the issues covered in the discussion: how to log into the UQU portal and the Deanship of Scientific Research portal, fill the required information for applying for and receiving a grant for carrying out research projects, and meet the requirements and conditions in the proposal to be eligible for approval by the internal and external panels.

The lecture also included discussions about a number of issues. Participants discussed the number of research allowed for submission at the same time, the number of available projects, the importance of understanding reasons behind turning down a proposal, the nature and payments of internal and external consultants, technicians and administrative officers in the research project, and the participation in international conferences.
