On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, the UQU College of Public Health and Health Informatics organized a folk food ceremony, in which number of the college staff (faculty members and administrative staff).
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Waheeb D. al-Harbi, dean of the college, and all vice-deans and heads of departments. A contest was held, as part of the ceremony, in which the Saudi staff corner won. There was a table for Saudi dishes, another for Sudanese dishes, a third for Egyptian dishes, a table for Yemeni dishes, and a table for Indian and Pakistani dishes.
Chef Yasser B. Jad, Head of the Saudi Chefs Society, handed out a prize for the winning corner. Mr. Jad and two of his assistants, Chef Nayef Bidoun and Chef Muhammad E. Abou-bakr, served as arbitrators of the contest.
As the event drew to a close, the dean handed out certificates of thanks to the arbitration committee for their impressive participation.
In the end, all participants had a wonderful dinner.
